A Blue Hen’s Guide to UDance 2024

Welcome back Blue Hens! We hope you’re ready for a new year of UDance—led by the same mission as we continue to fight for a world without childhood cancer—full of FUNdraising, raising awareness, and making a difference for the kids! Not sure how to start off this UDance season? Read below for all the ways YOU can get started as we answer some of your frequently asked questions…

How do I make a personal fundraising page?

Visit www.udancede.org and click ‘Join A Team’ to join your residence hall, RSO, Greek Life chapter, or athletic team page. Don’t have a team yet? Click ‘Join As Individual’. Choose a fundraising program (Moraler, Dancer, Comma Club) to set your fundraising goal.

Are you interested in creating a new team page with your student group? Email grichason@udel.edu for more information.

What are the best ways to start fundraising?

Why wait to start fundraising when you can start right now?! Send your personal fundraising link to family and friends and let them know about UDance, The B+ Foundation, and how every donation goes directly to the fight against childhood cancer. (Fun Fact: The average email brings in a $67 donation!) Go Canning, place a donation can in a local business, post on your social media…looking for more fundraising ideas? We’ve got you covered!

Where do my donations go?

UDance’s sole beneficiary is The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation. The B+ Foundation provides financial and emotional support to families of kids affected by cancer nationwide, and funds critical, cutting-edge childhood cancer research.

The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation honors the life and legacy of Andrew McDonough. The Foundation was born after athlete and ‘A’ student, Andrew McDonough, battled leukemia, septic shock and complications of childhood cancer for 167 days. He passed away on July 14, 2007, at the age of 14. Andrew’s B+ blood type became his family and friends’ motto throughout his fight against childhood cancer — to “Be Positive.”

How can I get more involved in UDance?

Although committee applications are now closed, you can get involved in one of our three other programs! Dedicated Volunteers, Media Relations Reps, and Freshmen For the Kids are some of our programs.
