Miami Heat Power Forward, Udonis Haslem has always supported the community by contributing his time and support to local foundations. In 2005, Haslem channeled those energies and created the Udonis Haslem Children’s Foundation, Inc with the uncompromising belief that today’s youth will be the leaders of tomorrow.
Papa Keith for People Matter, is a nonprofit movement positively shaping the future of underserved communities in South Florida. Every month, the PK4PM team “pops up” in under privileged community to host a family fun day with free food, entertainment and encouragement — Because You Matter!
Udonis, along with partners, Check Cashing USA, hosted the People Matter Fest Father-Son Basketball Tournament on Saturday, June 16th at Gwen Cherry Park. UD participated in a ribbon cutting with Commissioner Monestime and other county officials, met with the 25 tournament winners, signed basketballs, took photos with fans and presented the trophy to winning team.

Each year Haslem, a devoted advocate for childhood education, combs Dade and Broward county schools to identify students who have excelled academically despite various sociodemographic factors. On Saturday, December 23rd, 2017, more than 80 deserving students who fit the qualifications of being honored, enjoyed a full day excursion, beginning with a personal meet-and-greet to congratulate the honorees. Students joined Haslem at ToysRUS in North Miami Beach where they received a backpack filled with goodies and a $200 gift card for a shopping spree. The event concluded with an afternoon lunch with Santa and games at FunDimension, Wynwood’s first family entertainment center.
Earlier this year, Haslem attended FunDimension’s grand opening where owner Joyce Frohman, presented him with a $5,000 donation to the Foundation.
